More on what it’s like being a writer. First, this from Dana Stevens, the movie critic at Slate: “Writing has become both my bread and butter and my day-to-day nemesis, my creator and destroyer, the task I am seemingly never not doing and yet somehow never doing enough of (or doing well enough).” And this killer from James Jones: “Writing is my life; if I couldn’t write I don’t know where the hell I’d be. But writing without publishing is like eating without swallowing.”
